Making “Sustainable” the New Norm in India
Sustainable agriculture can be defined as produce that is good for the people, as well as the planet, while continuing to be profitable. This paper examines the policy initiatives undertaken by the government in this regard, along with some of the challenges that stand in the way of the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices. It also aims to examine the role of all key stakeholders – including farmers, the government, private companies, and the consumer.
